Driving safety across the board at A-OSH EXPO 2023

A-OSH EXPO, being held from 6 to 8 June 2023 at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, allows Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) professionals to gather and share perspectives from the broader risk and compliance sphere. This then helps them to proactively address gaps and areas for improvement in teams, businesses, and organisations. The networking and information-sharing opportunities available at A-OSH EXPO cannot be overstated,” says Mark Anderson, Portfolio Director at Specialised Exhibitions (a division of Montgomery Group).

OSH professionals are increasingly handling pressure from a range of different sources, including heightened economic, cyber, regulatory and risk management demands within the businesses and supply chains they operate, whether as internal experts or external consultants/contractors. They can become preoccupied with daily tasks and lose sight of the macro shifts within the economies and markets in which they operate.

As we all struggle to adapt to the new reality post-lockdown, there are shifts in the OSH environment that must addressed to not only protect employees, but furthermore to ensure business sustainability. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) said in its report — ‘Safety and health at the heart of the future of work’ that the field of OSH needs to effectively rise to these transformational challenges and opportunities.

Amongst other suggestions, the report says that “We are unable to predict exactly what type of technology will exist in the future, how it will be integrated into the world of work, and what impacts — positive or negative — this will have on OSH. Therefore, our responses to this unknown transformation must evolve in an inclusive and human-centred way, emphasising the importance of lifelong learning and continued skill development.”

A-OSH EXPO 2023 encourages the importation of knowledge in several ways:

  1. Excellent seminar topics at the Saiosh free-to-attend Seminar Theatre (powered by Saiosh and Sapema) and the Working at Height. Listen to respected speakers discuss current trends and provide updates on OSH regulations.
  2. Networking with exhibitors and peers.
  3. Live demonstrations of products.

A-OSH EXPO is co-located with the 30-year-old Securex South Africa exhibition, the established Facilities Management Expo, and the recently launched Firexpo. “This is a golden opportunity for suppliers of health and safety equipment to engage with a captive audience of OSH professionals,” says Anderson.
